about
Canada's 150th is a legacy of colonialism built on the abuse of the inhabitants of an occupied land. Indigenous peoples have been and continue to be subjected to a physical and cultural genocide. This track is about residential schools where aboriginal children were abused and it is estimated that upwards of 6000 died (a much higher number is assumed because Canada stopped keeping track in 1920 because of a high rate of deaths.) This is just one of the Canadian state's crimes against First Nations groups. Here is a link to a video of people telling their stories from residential schools (www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdR9HcmiXLA) Fuck the 150th is a great site to give more information on the full array of crimes committed by the Canadian state.
